The sports calendar has officially reached the dog days of summer, and with the only major American sport taking place being baseball, now is a great time to look at Fantasy Football rankings for the upcoming season. Throughout this preview I will be giving out my top players that will win your league at each major position group. ( QB, RB, WR, TE ). Today we are starting with the Quarterback position, the most important in all of football.
1.Josh Allen, Bills - The consensus top selection among all fantasy experts online is that the 2x pro bowler will be the first QB taking off the board. Allen led all players in PPG (24.2) & total points (410) last season, and has ranked inside the top 3 for QB points every year for the last five seasons. Even without Stefon Diggs, Allen is the clear #1 QB choice.
2. Jalen Hurts, Eagles - In his three seasons as a starter, Hurts has ranked inside the top 5 for QB points, and is an incredible duel threat option. He also had a career high 15 rushing TD last season, which was the highest amount for a QB by a long shot. With a new offensive coordinator and the addition of Saquon Barkley, expect Hurts and the Eagles to get back to their dominant ways.
3. Lamar Jackson, Ravens - 2x NFL MVP and Heisman winner, Jackson was able to stay healthy for a full season in 2023 after 2 years of missing time. Jackson finished 4th in total QB points, only 13 behind Dak Prescott despite playing 1 less game. Like Hurts, Jackson’s running ability is a huge advantage at the QB position, which is why he is my 3rd ranked QB going into 2024.
4. Patrick Mahomes II, Chiefs - Despite a “down” season last year, Mahomes has finished top 5 in total QB points in 4 of his 6 seasons as a starter. The Chiefs offensive struggles were well documented last season, but with the additions of Hollywood Brown & 1st round pick Xavier Worthy, Mahomes has the weapons needed for an incredible fantasy season. The only thing that could hurt Mahomes is not playing during the fantasy playoffs due to the Chiefs resting their top players later on in the season. Even with all of that, being able to grab the best player in football at QB4 is incredible value.
5. Anthony Richardson, Colts - Maybe the biggest surprise selection on this list, but the former gator QB and Indianapolis are bound to have a breakout season. Despite only playing 4 games in his rookie year, Richardson showed his duel threat ability and fantasy potential before a season ending injury. Although a small sample size, he ranked as QB1 and QB4 in the 2 full games of football last season. Richardson also has the 6th easiest schedule in 2024 according to fantasy pros, and is in line for a monster season.
Those are my top 5 selections for the best fantasy QB’s heading into 2024, some names that just missed the list include 2023 offensive ROY C.J. Stroud, Joe Burrow, Dak Prescott & Kyler Murray.
