2024 NFL Record Predictions: AFC South & AFC West

Last weeks article i went over my predictions for the AFC East & AFC North divisions, this week we will be taking a look at the remaining teams in the AFC.

AFC South:

1.Indianapolis Colts (10-7) - Most if not all NFL reports see this as an easy win for the Texans in the AFC South, I think otherwise. As of today, the Colts have the 3rd best Odds to win the division at +310, which is amazing value. Anthony Richardson was an absolute stud before a season ending injury last year, and i believe Shane Steichen is one of the best coaches in football. Pare that with a slight hangover from the Texans, and you've got a winner here with the Colts.

2. Houston Texans (10-7) - Although i don’t have them winning the division, I still think CJ Stroud and co will have a good season. They surprised everyone by winning the division and making the playoffs last year, and made some huge moves in the offseason adding star WR Stefon Diggs & RB Joe Mixon. I do believe a slight sophomore slump from Stroud and a larger target on their backs will be the main reason for this downturn.

3.Jacksonville Jaguars (8-9) - Trevor Lawrence led the Jags to the playoffs two years ago, but the team doesn’t have that star WR1 that you really need to make a playoff push. I think Tlaw is the 3rd best QB in the division, hence why i think they will finish 3rd and make some big changes at the end of the year.

4. Tennessee Titans (3-14) - The Titans lost one of the best coaches in the NFL in Mike Vrabel, and have one of the worst rosters on paper this year. They will be in contention for the worst record in football, and three wins honestly could be a stretch. But the season could be seen as a success if 2nd year QB Will Levis makes positive strides.

AFC West:

1.Kansas City Chiefs (14-3) - Coming off back 2 back Super Bowl Wins, KC added much needed offensive help in the offseason. This team is honestly better on paper then last year, and is probably the easiest choice out of all NFL squads to top their division for the 9th year in a row.

2. Los Angeles Chargers (9-8) - Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL after a decade of coaching college football. He automatically makes this team way better than last year, but the lack of weapons Justin Herbert has could hurt him this year. I expect them to have immense peaks and valleys, and who knows, they could be a postseason squad come January.

3. Denver Broncos (6-11) - Sean Payton's first year as the HC in Denver did not go to plan, and led to the eventual release of QB Russell Wilson. I think Bo Nix could have a decent rookie year, but way too many question marks on this squad to put them any higher than six wins.

4.Las Vegas Raiders (4-13) - Gardner Minshew was just named the starting QB, and Devonte Adams looks likely to be traded at some point. The bottom two in this division is rough, and could get pummeled into the dirt very early on in the season.

Those are my predictions for every team in the AFC for the 2024 season, stay tuned for next weeks articles where I will be giving out my picks for the NFC East, North, South & West. Once again we will revisit these predictions in January to see how i ended up.
