Are the Orioles finally contenders?

The Baltimore Orioles haven’t won a championship since 1983. Since then, they’ve had years of disappointment. In 2024, they are looking like potential championship contenders. Sitting at 47-24, the young team out of Baltimore is hungry for new heights.

After winning a three game series against the Philadelphia Phillies this past weekend, Baltimore showed resilience and grit. They have a strong roster from top to bottom and can compete with the best of teams.

Gunnar Henderson leads the way for the Orioles, with 22 home runs and 49 RBI’s. The 22 year old phenom has been a major piece to Baltimore’s resurgence, and has no intention of slowing down.

For pitching, Corbin Burnes has been dealing in 2024. He has an 8-2 win loss record and a 2.14 ERA. Batters average .209 against Baltimore’s ace, which means he’s one of the best in Major League Baseball.

Anthony Santander, Adley Rutschman, Ryan Mountcastle and Jordan Westburg are also factors to why this team is so dangerous. They have consistently when it comes to hitting and being able to run up the scoreboard. This is a deep squad who can pretty much compete against any other team in baseball.

This is the Orioles’ best chance to go deep in the playoffs in a very long time, and opposing teams will have to buckle up. In a tough American League, they will face some true competition, but they are ready for the challenge.
