Colorado State is defeated convincingly by BYU women's tennis.

After a superb effort that saw the Cougars defeat the Rams 6-1, BYU defeated Colorado State on Saturday.

With this win, BYU has now improved to 6-1 on the early season. This was their second straight victory.

Once again, BYU's supremacy in doubles was where they truly shone. This season, BYU hasn't dropped a point in doubles play, and this past Saturday was no exception.

Tina Li and Kara Wheatley, as well as Bobo Huang and Kaavya Sawhney, both won their doubles tandem matches, 6-2 and 6-1, respectively. As a result, Kendall Kovick and Emilee Astle came under intense scrutiny and soon found themselves behind 4-1.

But, the Rams' chances of winning were gone as soon as the two gained the necessary momentum.

In an amazing show of agility and rivalry, Astle and Kovick battled their way back to force a tiebreaker at 6-6. The pair seemed to squeeze the tennis ball into the crevices that Colorado was unable to fill, as teammates and spectators cheered them on the entire way.

“The reason we were able to win was because of our energy,” teammate, Bobo Huang, said. “We were able to fire each other up and cheer each other on.”
