Elly De La Cruz on pace for history

Elly De La Cruz is one of the rising stars in Major League Baseball. The 22 year old phenom has been leading a struggling Cincinnati Reds team for the last two seasons. Baseball fans knew he’d be a good player, but he is really looking like a superstar this season.

De La Cruz is on pace to end this season with 42 home runs and 94 stolen bases. He is also putting these numbers: .280/.389/.579. Ronald Acuna Jr made history last year by becoming the first player to hit 40 home runs and have 70 steals in a season. If De La Cruz is able to break this record at the age of 22, his future is more than bright.

The Reds have a chance to produce one of the best power-speed combo players of all time. His speed is the reason why he could be the first player since Rickey Henderson in 1988 to surpass 90 stolen bases in a season. Not only this, but his hitting has improved as well. His chase rate is down, and his swing rate in the heart of the zone has increased. De La Cruz is becoming very efficient in his game.

De La Cruz will go down as one of the best all around players of this generation. The sky is the limit for the young superstar. He isn’t even remotely at his potential yet either, which is a scary sight for opposing teams for years to come.
