Gerrit Cole almost on his way to returning

Gerrit Cole has made another major leap towards his return to the Yankees. On Tuesday, he will start rehabbing for the Somerset Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the Yankees.

Cole could throw up to 50 pitches according to manager Aaron Boone. He needs a good amount of reps in the minors in order to be ready to officially return to the majors.

"It just depends; do we want to bring him in a situation where he's at 60, 65, 70 pitches?" Boone said. "Do we want him to have one more [rehab start]? We'll have a better feel for that, and certainly Gerrit will have a better feel for that as he now goes and starts pitching in games."

The reigning AL Cy Young winner is ready to make his season debut and help the scorching Yankees succeed even more. He had a record of 15-4 last season and absolutely dominated on the mound.

New York is currently 42-19, which is the best record in baseball. They are one of the favorites to make the World Series, and the return of Gerrit Cole would just increase those odds.
