This past Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs; led by QB Patrick Mahomes and HC Andy Reid; narrowed out a victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58 by a score of 25-22. 3 days later, while the Chiefs were celebrating a victory, a mass shooting broke out leaving 22 people injured; 9 being children; and 1 person dead.

On Thursday, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves stated that the fatal shots seemed to have originated from a disagreement among multiple individuals. Chief Graves mentioned that the ongoing investigation has not uncovered any ties to terrorism or domestic violent extremism.

Authorities from Children's Mercy Hospital reported that 11 children, aged between 6 and 15 years old, were under treatment at the facility, with nine of them sustaining gunshot injuries. None of the children were in critical condition, and all are anticipated to make a full recovery.

Graves mentioned in a press briefing that the shooting occurred to the west of Union Station. Officials confirmed that all members of the Chiefs organization, including players, coaches, and staff, had been located and were safe.

Multiple Kansas City players; such as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Dru Tranquill; have taken to social media about the shooting. "I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.", said Travis Kelce.

The individual who lost their life has not yet been formally identified; however, according to a Facebook post by local radio station KKFI, the victim was reported to be Lisa Lopez-Galvan, one of the station's DJs.

Wednesday evening, President Biden also released a statement about the shooting. "The Super Bowl is the most unifying event in America," said President Biden, "Nothing brings more of us together. And the celebration of a Super Bowl win is a moment that brings a joy that can't be matched to the winning team and their supporters. For this joy to be turned to tragedy today in Kansas City cuts deep in the American soul."

In continuation of the ongoing investigation, the Kansas City police and FBI have asked the submission of any videos capturing the "shooting incident and footage showing the perpetrators attempting to leave the area."
