The Boston Celtics are NBA Champions once again. They defeated the Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks in just five games. Boston asserted their dominance from Game 1, and showed the world that they were for real.
When Boston acquired Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis in the offseason, people had a good feeling that they would be champions in 2024. With an astonishing 64-18 record in the regular season, Boston was the clear cut favorites to win it all.
The duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been doubted for the last seven years, but they proved everyone wrong. Brown won the NBA Finals MVP award while Tatum posted a great close out performance in game 5.
The Celtics defense was tenacious against Dallas, making Luka and the rest of the Mavs work for their money. Kyrie Irving completely disappeared this series, after many had high expectations for him against Boston. Jrue Holiday and Jaylen Brown were the two biggest keys for the Celtics lockdown defense.
Boston will most likely run it back with this team next season, and that’s scary for the rest of the league. This is a team capable of winning multiple championships, especially in the Eastern Conference.
The 2024 NBA Finals featured many future Basketball Hall of Famers. These include the names of Jayson Tatum, Luka Dončić, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Kyrie Irving and Al Horford. This will be a championship series for the books, and Boston solidified themselves as arguably the greatest franchise in NBA history.
