Top 5 running backs entering 2024

Entering the 2024 NFL season, the viewpoint of the running back position has changed. Contracts aren’t what they used to be, and the players are not valued as much. These following running backs are still dominating every time they step on the field.

5. Saquon Barkley - Philadelphia Eagles

Barkley is entering of the best offenses in football, a huge upgrade from where he was once before. As long as he’s healthy, there’s no reason why he can’t be a top five running back once again.

4. Bijan Robinson - Atlanta Falcons

Robinson didn’t have the rookie season most thought he would have, but he still logged 1,463 yards from scrimmage. In a new offense, he will have much more work to do and he will thrive.

3. Breece Hall - New York Jets

After suffering a torn ACL in his rookie season, Hall responded with an excellent 2023 campaign. He rushed for 994 yards and five touchdowns on a solid 4.5 yard per carry and showed little sign of any post injury effects.

2. Derrick Henry

Henry is older now, but he still rushed for 1,167 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 4.2 yards per carry in 2023. This earned him a 90.1 grade, the third highest among NFL running backs.

  1. Christian McCaffrey

This was the obvious choice for number one. He led the league with a career high 1,459 rushing yards and added a league leading 21 total touchdowns.
