Trevor Lawrence signs massive deal

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has agreed to a 5 year, $275 million dollar contract along with $200 million guaranteed. Even after a down year, the Jaguars have secured their franchise quarterback for the long haul.

Lawrence had typical rookie growing pains. With Urban Meyer as his head coach, he struggled his first year in the NFL. He threw for only 12 touchdowns and had a whopping 17 interceptions. The potential was there though, as he also had 3,641 yards, which is great for a first year guy.

His second season was his breakout year. Lawrence posted 25 passing touchdowns and only 8 interceptions. He also threw for 4,113 yards, which was a huge leap for the former number one overall pick.

2023 was the season that Trevor Lawrence wants to forget about. He threw only 21 touchdowns and had 14 interceptions, a decrease and increase from the season before. Lawrence regressed in a season where some people thought he could potentially be a top five quarterback.

Entering 2024, the pressure is larger than ever before for Trevor Lawrence. After securing a contract this big, he’s now tied for highest paid quarterback in the NFL.

The Jaguars are in a tough AFC South Division, if they want to win, it’s up to Trevor Lawrence’s play. He must improve on his turnovers and deep play ability. If he plays the way he did last season, this contract will look foolish for Jacksonville.
