What’s going on with the Bucks?

The Milwaukee Bucks made the biggest splash last offseason by acquiring Damian Lillard via trade. Lilllard is a top 75 player of all time and one of the best players in the association. The duo of Lillard & Giannis Antetokounmpo sounds like match made in heaven. A two time MVP and champion combined with one of the league’s best point guards, what can go wrong?

What went wrong was Glenn “Doc” Rivers. He is the most overrated coach in league history. Rivers is responsible for many blown series leads in the postseason. He is known for not adjusting, misusing players and refusing to call timeouts. His coaching strategy has not changed over the course of his career, and somehow he manages to keep getting jobs.

Milwaukee was 30-13 with Adrian Griffin, then they fired him. It was a questionable move from the beginning, but hiring Rivers as the replacement was a recipe for disaster. Since his hiring, the Bucks have gone 15-17 and have blown leads in multiple games. Firing Griffin is now looked at as one of the most questionable decisions made this season. Milwaukee has gone from contender to pretender all within this season.

I don’t see the Bucks going too far after the hiring of Doc Rivers. It’s difficult to see any way they can improve at this point in the season. It’s still mind boggling that Rivers was even their top candidate for the head coach position. At this rate, this will most likely be his last coaching job in the NBA after this poor display. For the Bucks, they still have Antetokounmpo and Lillard who are future first ballot hall of famers. Those two guys will have to will Milwaukee through the playoffs, which will be a tough test.
