Who is the next face of the NBA?

LeBron James has been considered the face of the league for the last 15 years or so. Many have tried to come close, such as Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, but no one has been able to top LeBron as the face of the NBA. Who is the next face of the NBA once he retires?

Two names come to mind for me, Anthony Edwards and Victor Wembanyama. Edwards is 22 years old and Wemby is 20. These two will run the league for many years to come. Edwards has already led the Timberwolves to a top 3 seed in a loaded Western Conference. The Spurs are bad right now, but they will only improve. Wemby had one of the greatest rookie seasons of all time, averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.6 blocks a game. This will probably be the worst season that he will have, which is a scary sight. Edwards has been improving every single season, and has become one of the most electrifying players in the league today.

More things that makes these two guys seem to be the future faces of the league are the endorsements and social media presence. Wemby signed a lucrative deal with Nike last year, and a signature logo has been revealed, which is hinting at a potential shoe coming soon. He has also signed a deal with the fashion brand Louis Vuitton. Anthony Edwards created a signature shoe with Adidas, which is a very popular shoe in the basketball sneaker game right now. Edwards also signed a deal with Sprite and has appeared in commercials. Not to mention, both of these stars have over 10 million followers in combined social media platforms.

Edwards and Wembanyama will be forces in the NBA for years to come. Their talents are undeniable, and so is their potential to be all time greats. Edwards is the most explosive shooting guard in the game right now, he can slash, shoot and absolutely put you on a poster whenever he wants. Wemby is a 7’4” alien who can do everything. He can shoot, pass, defend, and shift you out of your shoes. Players around the league will want to team up with these two, there’s no denying that. LeBron’s tenure in the association is sadly coming to an end, but the passing of the torch will be truly special.
