The San Francisco 49ers desperately needed a win.
They had lost back-to-back games and got a couple of key pieces back for their Week 4 matchup with the New England Patriots.
As always, all eyes were on Brock Purdy after the two losses, with his critics not wasting the opportunity to blame him for the team’s struggles and question his ability to lead the team.
Purdy responded by putting up 288 passing yards, one score, and one interception, making every key throw in the win over Jerod Mayo’s team and smoothly running the offense.
That’s why, following the win, star LB Fred Warner made sure to give his quarterback his flowers.
Talking to the media, Warner claimed that he loved Purdy and the way he plays the game, adding that he’s a great leader for the team as well (via 95.7 The Game).
Is there anything that Brock Purdy can’t do?
Fred Warner: “No, he’s the best. I love Brock. Love exactly how he plays the game, who he is and the leader that he is for our team.” pic.twitter.com/mntwPX25Pn

Purdy has struggled when he hasn’t had all his weapons around him, but it would be unfair and inaccurate to blame him for the team’s shortcomings.
He’s taken his game to another level this season.
He’s being more aggressive with his shots down the field, has made some plays with his legs, and he’s clearly improved in terms of reading opposing defenses.
Purdy is in line to get a huge contract extension at some point, and he’s playing much better than some of the quarterbacks who already got paid.
The Niners have been disappointing as a team, but it has had little to do with their young quarterback.
