The Los Angeles Dodgers are your 2024 MLB World Series Champions. LA beat the Yankees in 5 games (4-1) and win their eight title in franchise history.
Freddie Freeman gets his second ring and 1st World Series MVP after an incredible series batting .300 with 4 HR and 12 RBI’s.
The Dodgers came into the 2024 season with the best odds to win the World Series but certainly faced alot of challenges along the way. Without Yamamoto, Kershaw, and Glasnow for large chunks of the season, many wondered how would the LA starting staff get the job done in October. Yamamoto and Walker Buelher were especially impressive with a 1.42 ERA and 0.00 ERA.
The Dodgers were no doubt the better team for the majority of the season, but two key moments in Games 1 & 5 might have Yankee fans asking what could have been.
The Decision to bring in Nestor Cortes Jr. after not pitching for a month in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded was puzzling to say the least, and Freeman capatilized on a 92 mph fastball right now the middle hitting a grand slam.
In Game 5 the Yankees put up 5 runs in the first 5 innings, but the entire team had one of the biggest meltdowns you will ever see in the bottom half of the inning.
After a Kike Hernandez base hit, Aaron Judge dropped a routine pop up, Anthony Volpe made a throwing error, and Rizzo & Cole had a major miscommunication mistake, all of these led to LA scoring 5 runs in the 5th, and would eventually take the lead winning 7-6.
This is somewhat of a validation for the 2020 Dodgers, who won a Mickey Mouse ring after a 60-game season was played, and the season had no fans for 95% of it.
There is certainly dynasty potential with this squad, and it would surprise nobody if they went out and spent more money, and win 5 of the next 10 World Series.
Dodgers 4-1
MVP: Freddie Freeman
