2024 MLB Free Agency Preview

With the conclusion of the World Series last week, all 32 teams now turn the page to the 2025 season, and that starts with Free Agency. Today lets take a look at the top MLB free agents and where i think they will end up signing.

1. Juan Soto, RF – Last offseason saw potentially the best player ever hit free agency, and this year we once again have a once in a generation talent hitting the open market. At just 26 years old, Soto is already a 4x All Star, 4x Silver Sluggar & World Series champion. He is coming off the best season of his career with 41 HR and an OPS+ of 178. There are really only 3-4 teams that can afford him, the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, and maybe the Giants or Blue Jays. I believe that he will ultimately sign with whatever team gives the most money, but his time in NY was wildly successful so Boras will give them a chance to match any offer. Ultimately I think the Yankees will do everything in there power to keep the future hall of famer in pinstripes. NY Yankees 13 Years, $585 Million. (AAV $45 Million)

2. Corbin Burnes, SP – The CY Young winner has been dominant throughout his entire career, and will be seeking a long term deal in free agency. Coming off a season with Baltimore where he was the AL All Star Starter and pitched to a 2.92 ERA in 194 innings. The team in Queens had an incredibly season that saw them reach the NLCS, and owner Steve Cohen will be looking to make a splash. NY Mets, 8 Years, $240 Million. (AAV $30 Million)

3. Alex Bregman, 3B – The Lifetime Astro is hitting the market at a good time, despite have a down year for his standers. The corner infield market is very thin, which makes Bregman the top target for teams looked for a third baseman. It would be hard to imagine him not in Houston, but i don’t think they will give him the long term contract he wants. Blue Jays, 7 Years, $175 Million. (AAV $25 Million)

4. Blake Snell, SP – The Snell free agency saga last season didn’t go according to plan for him and super agent Scott Boras. He waited until March to sign with the Giants, after not receiving the long term deal they both hoped for. He pitched to a 6.31 ERA in the first half, but was unhittable in the 2nd half with a 1.45 ERA. Snell hopes this time is different gets the long term deal he desires. Red Sox, 5 Years, $145 Million. (AAV $28 Million)

5. Anthony Santander, RF – The switch hitting power man picked a good time to have a career year, right before hitting the open market. He hit 44 HR, good enough for 3rd best in baseball behind Judge & Ohtani. I think hes being undervalued by some baseball pages, solely based on that hes had one elite season. Baltimore wont pay him, but one team will be happy to give him a multi year deal. Guardians, 4 Years, $80 Million. (AAV $20 Million)
