Giants ‘Have Not Informed Their Quarterbacks’ Who Will Start

This has been another frustrating season for the New York Giants, who are tied for the NFL’s worst record at 2-8, and it is beyond clear that Daniel Jones isn’t the answer at quarterback.

Giants fans seem to be done with him, and now there is speculation about whether he will finish the rest of the season as the team’s starter.

However, the Giants reportedly haven’t made a decision about who will start after their bye week.

“At this time, the Giants have not informed their quarterbacks or the team about who will start moving forward,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic wrote on X. “… The HC and GM have left the door open for change.”

Jones has started all 10 games this season and has thrown for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 63.3 percent of his pass attempts.

He has thrown a touchdown pass in just four games this season, and overall, his play has been very inconsistent.

Even the emergence of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has caught 61 passes for 607 yards and three touchdowns in eight games, hasn’t done anything to help Jones raise his game.

If Jones does get benched, Drew Lock would presumably start in his place against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran backup has completed three of eight pass attempts this season and has a career pass completion rate of 59.4 percent.

Many now agree that New York made a big mistake by giving Jones a big contract extension prior to last season instead of giving one to running back Saquon Barkley, who left this past offseason and has ignited the Philadelphia Eagles.

At this point, New York may be best served to give themselves a shot at drafting the best quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class.
