Key Chargers WR Expected To Play On Sunday

The Los Angeles Chargers will have one of their key players back on the field.

Despite some earlier speculation, it seems like their star rookie will suit up vs. the New Orleans Saints.

Ladd McConkey didn’t practice Wednesday or Thursday due to a hip injury before returning for a limited session on Friday.

Now, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that he’s fully expected to play despite carrying a questionable tag into Sunday.

The Georgia standout has been instrumental to the Chargers’ passing game, logging at least seven targets in each of the past three games and tallying at least 43 yards in all but two games this season.

Unsurprisingly, the Chargers have leaned on a run-heavy offense, which is on point with Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman.

Justin Herbert’s numbers have been rather modest as a result.

But with the Chargers losing three of their last four games, they might need to switch things up a little bit.

McConkey has proven to be a reliable big-play threat dating back to his days in college, and he’s the best pass-catcher on his team right now.

The Chargers are also getting a big boost on defense, with Joey Bosa (hip) set to take the field to face the Saints after battling injury for most of the season.

With Derek Carr set to miss another game, Bosa and the Chargers’ stout defense will look to keep rookie QB Spencer Rattler on his toes and bounce back from a tough loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week.
