The Westchester Knicks selected forward Matt Ryan and guard Landry Shamet with the first two picks in the 2024 G League Draft. Already holding the first overall pick, Westchester had traded up to acquire the second pick in the draft to select Ryan and Shamet back-to-back.
The New York Knicks had Shamet in training camp. The veteran shooting guard looked likely to make the regular season before a dislocated shoulder late the preseason. Now that is officially part of the organization through the G League Knicks, the team can supervise Shamet rehab from the injury.
New York has also expressed interest in signing Ryan. The Knicks have been looking for additional shooting and Ryan has hit for nearly 40% across his time in both the NBA and the G League.
Both Ryan and Shamet remain NBA free agents, despite being drafted by the G League Knicks.
